In addition to the two main conference outings detailed above (Tours 1 and 2),
for the afternoon and evening of Tuesday 28th June (13.15 – 21.30 h),
ICRS2022 delegates who prefer a shorter tour may be interested in
a boat trip on Lough Corrib (Corrib Princess) or a Walking Tour of Galway.
CRUISE THE RIVER AND LOUGH CORRIB ON BOARD THE CORRIB PRINCESS
Delegates will board a passenger boat the Corrib Princess at Woodquay (5 minutes’ walk from NUIG) and follow the trail of fearsome Viking invaders and Victorian steamboats alike along the majestic River Corrib in Galway. Travelling on board the Corrib Princess where you’ll hear all about Galway’s ancient past, its Celtic mythology and feuding families as you cruise the placid waters. The castles you’ll see along the route were once home to some of Galway’s most intriguing characters; hear the stories of their daring exploits as the river opens out onto Lough Corrib, Ireland’s largest Lake. This stunning body of water is in a special area of conservation and is a UNESCO-designated wetland. The crystal-clear waters are home to courting swans, hunting herons and jumping salmon. You will enjoy an Irish Coffee demonstration & Irish Dancing.
Further information can be found here – Corrib Princess – where bookings can also be made.
WALKING TOUR OF GALWAY
A Professional Tour Guide will meet you and NUIG and lead you through the streets of Galway discovering the rich history and cultural heritage of the city. The professional tour guide will show delegates places like Eyre Square, Quay Street, Spanish Arch, Claddagh Village, St Nicholas Church & Galway Cathedral.
